Sweater Weather

After finding out I was going to spend the day sipping wine and enjoying oysters on the water at Tomales Bay, I knew I needed to get a chic but cozy outfit together.

While high-top sneakers would never have entered my MIND as a chic outfit option, I’ve been wearing them non-stop this winter.  The sporty contrast to my more classic style, has put a causal spin that J appreciates.

Also did I mention how comfortable they are?  I love 6 inch heels more than the next person, but there is something to be said for your feet not killing you at the end of the day.  Sign me up!

Wellness Wish List

January 13, 2015

Wellness Wish List With the holidays over and everyone in full-fitness swing, I wanted to share my favorite health centric products… I’m curious to hear yours!

  • Farm Fresh to You Box – I always preach about my Farm Fresh to You boxes (that I know get on a weekly basis). They help to up your fruit and veggie consumption, and now that I’m focusing on eating whole foods, these really are the basis for my success. Do yourself a favor and give it a try with this link. Use code Whit WHIT1117 for $10 off your first order!
  • New Sneakers – I’ve been on a sneaker kick lately, and J loves any reason for me to swap my heels for something a little…. flatter. 🙂
  • Foam Roller – My sister’s boyfriend recently gave me Foam Rolling 101 and I’ve been trying to get back into the habit.  By picking up one of these (for under $20!) and keeping it at home, I don’t really have an excuse not to. Here’s to being flexible in 2015!
  • Coordinates Collection Bracelet – Who says a little glam can’t help with your wellness?! I bought these beauties for my mom and sisters this holiday season (post to come!) – and love wearing something that makes me smile. So come on, treat yo self!
  • Murad Acne & Wrinkle Cleanser – Le sigh.  At first it was just acne I was fighting, now it is also wrinkles.  When will it end?!  Luckily this cleanser has helped to keep both of my “issues” at bay.  If you haven’t found a cleanser you are in love with, I highly recommend giving this a try.
  • Baby Lips Lip Balm – My little sister has been raving about this product for years and due to the slightly cheezy packaging I always avoided taking her advice.  Fast forward to me asking her one too many times “what lip gloss are you wearing,” and I had to jump aboard this train. Do yourself a favor and do the same. (I’m loving “Grape Vine” right now.)
  • Barre3 Classes – Last year I discovered Barre3 and have been preaching ever since.  If you are local, get your booty into a class with me – otherwise download their Barre3 app ($5 from the App Store) and try out their Barre3 videos in the privacy of your own home.
  • Fun Workout Gear – Working out is lame enough as it is, so lose the old college t-shirts and get some cute get-ups! I love this sports bra from Tonic, but you can’t go wrong with Athleta, Lulu and Beyond Yoga.
  • Spiralizer – It’s also no secret I love my Spiralizer. For under $50, do yourself a favor and become obsessed along with me.  I highly recommend splurging on the 4 blade version, and with all your goodies from your Farm Fresh to You box, you won’t be at a loss of what to whip up!

Lady in Pink

This insane chill factor gracing the California coast has had me pulling out my winter coats and cozy layers.  We enjoyed a fun night in Carmel to ring in the new year, and I was happy to brighten up my standard all black get-up with this pretty petal pink coat.  I also am really loving this new bracelet I scored at the J.Crew sale.  Paired with my leopard print iPad case turned clutch I was ready to welcome 2015!

Cozy

December 16, 2014

Now that California is finally enjoying some rain, I can’t help but embrace this wonderfully cozy weather!  Today I wanted to share my favorite go-to cozy items (and hopefully learn some of yours too)!

Eberjey PJs

As I have said on numerous occasions, Eberjey PJs are one of my guilty indulgences.  The material is so soft but has a little stretch and is really just the best thing to stay in all day night long.

Faux Fur Throw

Despite having a house under 1,000 square feet, I feel it extremely necessary to have 4 (and counting) faux fur throws.  The texture, the warmth, the luxury… are the perfect combination, and I truly feel you can’t have coziness without one of these bad boys.

Cashmere… anything

Enough said. Cozy = Cashmere.

Tea

I’m a big tea drinker and love starting off these cool mornings with a hot mug of tea.  Be sure to check out my Bowl of Soul recipe for a fun way to mix up your morning tea!

Breakfast in Bed

When I think of the word cozy, I imagine myself in a big luxurious bed enjoying a delicious breakfast on a rainy morning, watching The Holiday or reading the new Martha Stewart magazine (did that sound so basic of me!?) – but anyone who has indulged in breakfast in bed knows it sounds better than it usually is. Maple syrup spilling onto your white duvet? Scrambled eggs dribbling onto your pillow case? No thanks. Therefore I would like to just include the bed portion in my cozy must-haves, and we all know how important bedding is to that equation!  While I personally haven’t tried their product yet, I read about Parachute recently and was drawn to their great philosophy.  Worth checking out if you are in the bedding market!

Scented Candle

Much to my husband’s dismay I always have a candle burning.  It doesn’t matter if its 7am in the morning and I’m getting ready for work, or I’m deep cleaning the house – I love the added warmth and smell it brings to my home.  While I have many favorites, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Jo Malone candles (and perfumes, and lip balm, and lotions, and…).
