I got to tag along with Jeremy on a business trip this past weekend, and couldn’t have picked a better weekend to go to San Francisco – 80 degree weather, amazing food and boating on the bay… definitely a weekend to remember! Here were some of the highlights:
Morning walk with my sister along the Embarcadero – finished up with some juice and egg, Gruyere and truffled mushroom sandwiches.
A day on the water with TrueCar aboard the USA 76 (a winning boat of the America’s Cup!)
Breakfast at the Ferry Building Farmers Market
Some of the gorgeous cocktails we sipped on this weekend – my favorites: Farmer’s Market Punch at Coqueta and Roffignac Cocktail from Hard Water.
A delicious meal and gorgeous sunset with TrueCar at Epic Roasthouse.
Pumpkin Pancakes at Plow – the perfect ending to a wonderful weekend!
I recently bought some rosewater and have been trying to figure out creative ways to use it – enter… the Rosewater Rickey.
Rosewater Rickey
- 3 oz Hendricks Gin
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- Splash of simple syrup
- Splash of rosewater
- Club Soda
Shake gin, lime juice, simple syrup and rosewater in an ice filled shaker. Strain into an ice filled glass and top with club soda. Stir and enjoy!
* I garnished these drinks with mint ice cubes. To make them I filled large square ice cube molds 1/3 of the way and freeze. Place a mint leaf on top and fill tray to 2/3 full. Freeze again and then fill to the top (this will keep the mint leaf fulling submerged).

I was leaving an amazing dinner with my sister and hubby, and what does my sister notice on my brand new jeans?! GUM. The worst thing anyway… or so I thought… One call into my mom later and I was all set… here is what I did (for denim)!
1. Take an ice cube to the gum stain. You want to freeze it through (if you are working with a smaller garment you can put the whole thing in the freezer if you prefer).
2. Use a butter knife (or the backside of a dinner knife) to scrape the gum off. It should come right off!
3. Repeat steps 1-2 until the stain is removed.
4. Run item through the wash with the hottest water the material can handle.
5. Make sure gum is totally removed from article of clothing before putting in the dryer (unless you air dry your clothing).
It will be good as new!
I had to prep a gluten free appetizer and got overwhelmed by the fact that pretty much every hors d’oeuvre I love is based on carbs/bread/gluten. My solution bruschetta dip! Or as I also call it… Italian salsa!
- 2-3 cups heirloom tomatoes/Sweet 100’s (the key is GREAT produce… I picked everything up from the farmers market that day)
- 3 cloves garlic (or more if you really love garlic)
- a large handful of basil
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- kosher salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- Slice tomatoes into bite-size pieces (I quartered them), cut basil into thin strips (I rolled 5 leaves at a time and used herb shears to cut thin strips), and mince garlic. Combine everything in a large bowl.
- Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
- Let sit at room temperature for at least an hour to let the flavors really meld together.
- Serve with gluten free crackers (if going the gluten free approach)… otherwise serve with buttered and toasted baguette bread slices!
I can’t wait to serve the leftovers with a scoop of burrata cheese and a balsamic glaze drizzle…
