Strawberry Smoothie

April 17, 2013

I bought a few too many strawberries at the farmers market and needed something to do with them, so I found this recipe, made a few tweaks and voila!

Strawberry Smoothie

adapted from: Everyday Food

  • 1 cup Strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup raw almonds
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1/3 ice cups

Blend the oats and almonds first to make a powder (this is critical or you have a really crunchy smoothie).  Then toss everything else in and blend! Add more or less ice according to your taste (if you add less I’d pop your smoothie in the freezer a few minutes before you enjoy it).  A great start to your morning (and will definitely keep you tied over until lunch).

Strawberry Balsamic Smash

April 12, 2013

I’m always in for a fun cocktail idea, and I’ve been meaning to make this for awhile. It was so yummy and don’t be afraid of the balsamic… it’s worth the risk!

Jewelry Organization

While I dream about the day when I can have Rachel Zoe’s jewelry drawers in my house, in the mean time I’ve needed to figure out a plan B… which brings me to my current jewelry storage situation.

Ideally I would love to have my jewelry on display all over my home, but Jeremy put the cabosh (sp?) on that, so I headed to the Container Store.   These storage containers were great for me and one holds gold jewelry, and one holds silver jewelry. I also love that they have made moving super easy.  Just pack and go!

I also had to sneak in a couple of jewelry displays… so I picked up a great tray at TJ Maxx and turned this great gold animal statue into a holder for my bangles (similar one here).   My mom also picked up this mannequin at a boutique and its turned into a wonderful holder for my statement necklaces.
