Sumac Mint Fizz

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons sumac
  • 2 limes, halved/thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup packed fresh mint leaves
  • 48 ounces club soda/seltzer
  1. Bring sugar and 3/4 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Stir in sumac.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  4. Strain mixture (unless you were too lazy like me).
  5. Refrigerate, covered for at least an hour and up to 1 week.
  6. When you are ready to make the cocktail, muddle limes and mint in a pitcher.
  7. Stir in sumac syrup.
  8. Add ice and top with seltzer.
  9. If you want to make an adult version of this drink, add 1-2 oz of white rum or vodka to your ice filled glass and top with sumac syrup/seltzer mixture.
