What do you wear to host a dinner party? Here are some of my rules for Party Dressing 101…
1. Be comfortable – Now I’m not the queen of comfort… I will wear 5 inch heels to work if it makes my outfit look better, but when you are hosting event, you want to be focused on your guests and everything running smoothly… not futzing with your outfit. I threw on my favorite tee and some sandals to make sure I could be on “party duty.”
2. Accessorize! Not too much, but a sparkley necklace, or fun earrings make for a festive touch (just make sure nothing will hinder your ability to serve and help out – ie. a really long necklace). Also don’t forget to clean your jewelry before the event!
3. Wear something fun! I went a little obvious, but nothing gets everyone (including myself) in a fun mood like a tulle skirt (ok it’s basically a tutu)! But whether it’s your favorite charm bracelet, a flower in your hair or some fun nail polish, everyone loves a good conversation starter!
4. Comfortable footwear is a must! Make sure to take in consideration the location (ie. lawn, sand, cement, etc.) and plan your footwear accordingly!
J.Crew Necklace, Old Navy Tee, Anthropologie Skirt, Tory Burch Sandals
Make sure to set some time aside to get ready during the day… a party will always get off on the right foot when you’re feeling your best!
