Manzarita

Manzarita

I was looking for some fun cocktails to kick off our Thanksgiving meal (isn’t cooking more fun with a cocktail!?)… and came across quite the line-up of fun libations.  BUT tequila? In a autumn cocktail?  I was intrigued and had to try it… I introduce to you… the Manzarita (“manzana” is apple in Spanish).

Apple Tequila

Manzarita

  • 2 oz blanco tequila
  • 3/4 oz elderflower liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz apple juice or cider
  • 1/2 lemon, quartered
  • pinch of ground cinnamon
  1. Muddle lemon and cinnamon in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add ice, tequila, elderflower liqueur, and apple juice and shake well.
  3. Strain into an ice filled glass and top with a dash of cinnamon.

I was blown away with how much I enjoyed this… and a little tequila never hurt anyone at a family gathering (some of you may welcome it more than others 🙂 ). Cheers!

Thanksgiving Table Setting1 Thanksgiving Table Setting

I love the day before Thanksgiving (well the evening, as I am stuck at work unlike half of my friends)… tonight my family gets our aprons on and does most of the meal prep, as to ensure a relaxed day of thankfulness tomorrow 🙂 Nothing like a great bottle of wine, some fun tunes and all of your favorite people prepping your favorite meals to really kick off the holiday season.   I am in charge of decorating the table each year, so here are some of my favorite trends that I’ll be incorporating tomorrow!

Thanksgiving Dressing

November 26, 2013

My family loves a good reason to get dressed up and Thanksgiving is no exception…  Despite the fact Thanksgiving is usually spent with our immediate family we still make an effort to get out of our PJs and into something a little more festive.  Here is what I plan on wearing on Thursday!

Joie Sparkle Top Maroon Pants Sweater/Top/Pants/Flats

Here are 3 main Thanksgiving outfit requirements: a. stylish, b.stretch, and c. sparkle.

Banana Republic Flats

I would avoid any fabrics that don’t handle “food that misses your napkin” well – ie satin and silk.

Thanksgiving Outfit

Make sure you are comfortable and can move around easily in case a 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) pair of hands are needed in the kitchen – I wore this skirt last year and I’m lucky my family didn’t kill me after taking up 25% of any given space.

What are you planning to wear this Thanksgiving?
