I was so excited when my new J.Crew skirt arrived and pretty much have been wearing it non-stop. So when J and I headed to date night I had to throw it on!
I then paired it with a fitted turtleneck and some lace up heels and was good to go!
I also was so excited to pull out one of my new fall finds – a gorgeous Tahari coat and my favorite J.Crew baubles.

I was beyond excited to help plan the birthday party of one of the most stylish, fabulous women on the planet – Penny! Her house had been wrapping up a lengthy remodel and they were moving into their new home in time to celebrate her birthday… and what is better than a birthday celebration in a gorgeous, new home? Not much…. here is what we did:
Because the party was also showcasing their new home, I didn’t want to take away from their gorgeous decor with crazy birthday decorations, so I kept it simple with beautiful blooms and a color palette that complemented the house.
For place cards I bought delicate craft paper hang tags, and attached them to these beautiful rose lemonade bottles. The arrangements were made up of some stunning pink garden roses and peonies, as well as white hydrangeas and calla lilies in glass and silver vases.
I set up various “bar stations” – one for wine and beer and another for self serve cocktails (recipes to come on Fun Drink Friday!).
For food, I used Chef Annie (the same chef who helped with my parent’s Anniversary Party) and her team – Stephanie and Chris. The food was amazing (as usual) and when a night starts with mini potatoes filled with lemon creme frachie and topped with caviar and chives… how can you go wrong?!

Add vodka and juices into an ice filled glass and stir. Top with Sprite and stir once more. Bottoms up!
As much as I procrastinate transitioning my closet each fall/spring, I do LOVE the outcome and the inspiration I get with my “new closet.” I feel like I get a new wardrobe and love finding favorite pieces that you forget about during “off months.”
While I covered a lot of my general “closet organizing game plan” in this post, I definitely added a slightly new approach this season. My purging mindset has moved from my drawers, cabinets, garage, to now my closet. I realized that I’m at a point in my life wear quality is more important that quantity. If I find a pair of pants or a jacket that I love, I now buy them in multiple colors (I used to be horrified at the idea of that – “there are so many clothes in the world?! why settle on one style? – but now I understand how great it feels to find something that feels like it was made for you!). My latest obsession – the J.Crew Minnie Pant:
I also am on chunky knit sweater kick and wanted to display them in a prominent area (hence the front and center location). I also edited my heels selections and stored away any sandals/wedges for warmer months, as to not take up valuable closet space. I also like to display my favorite heels at eye level… along with my favorite purses and jewelry.
Another thing I did differently this year, was to store t-shirts and lounge wear in my dresser. It’s easier to get dressed when my clothes are more spread out and less cramped in my closet.
I also (SADLY), had to move my swimsuits back into storage containers, and pull my winter scarves out… oh the joys of fall…
