Old Fashioned

December 19, 2014

IMG_7258

My go-to drink for the past few months has been an Old Fashioned, so I was a little surprised to see I’ve never posted about it on the blog!  I know this is a classic, but it is a must have for your cocktail line-up this winter season.

If You Feel Like Pina Coladas…

March 19, 2014

IMG_8552

Well, because I am currently in overdrive on my “Spring Break Diet,” I am not indulging in Pina Coladas… le sigh.  BUT I am doing the next best thing, which is whipping up this amazing coconut body smoothing treatment.

Coconut Ginger Scrub

  • 1/2 cup ground rice (just give it a few seconds in your blender)
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons freshly grated ginger

Stir until the ingredients form a paste.  Smooth onto your body using circular motions. Rinse and moisturize.

I like to then apply my favorite self tanner with this mitt.

Gluten Free Peanut Butter Cookies

March 5, 2014

IMG_7747

In preparation for our annual family vacation, the Feezor females have kicked healthy eating into over drive – gotta get swimsuit ready!  That being said, I still have a major sweet tooth, and sometimes it just cannot be denied.

IMG_7724

I have been on the prowl to figure out a great dessert option that is quick, easy and has a little bit less guilt factor.  I introduce you to – the Gluten Free Peanut Butter Cookie – created by the very talented Shockingly Delicious!  I’m telling you, with 5 ingredients, and no usual gluten free baking ingredients (you know what I’m talking about – aarowroot starch, xanthan gum, tapioca flour – WHO HAS THIS IN THE PANTRY?!), this is a great way to fight a craving before you walk down to 7-11 to binge out on Snickers Bars and Skittles.

GF Peanut Butter Cookie

via Shockingly Delicious

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter (I used organic TJ’s)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Blend above ingredients in a Kitchen Aid mixer until well mixed (about a minute or so).
  3. Use a cookie scoop to portion cookie dough to a Silpat or parchment lined cookie sheet.
  4. Using fork tines, press the usual “peanut butter cookie crosshatch” pattern into the tops of the dough balls.
  5. Sprinkle course sugar (I used raw brown sugar).
  6. Bake for 11 minutes and let cool on baking pan for 5 minutes or so (they are really fragile until they have cooled down).
  7. Let cool completely on a rack and store in airtight container.
  8. Allow yourself to eat one cookie… as to not completely botch your attempt at dieting.

Now go make them and tell me that you would even know they are gluten free…

DIY Coffee Body Scrub

February 20, 2014

DIY Coffee

I wanted to try out the St. Tropez tanning products, but I’ve been too scared to be a streaky, mess and have had it stored in my cabinet for months.  In typically “Whitney fashion” I researched a ton before making the tanning plunge and word on the street is exfoliating is critical.

IMG_6731

Of course I decided I was “ready” when I was fresh out of body scrub, so I took to my kitchen to figure out a home remedy… introduce, Whitney’s DIY Coffee Body Scrub:

  • 1/2 cup ground coffee
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup raw sugar
  1. Mix all ingredients together.
  2. Use scrub in the shower… it’s going to make a mess!
  3. Massage onto wet skin in circular motions.
  4. Rinse (you may need to use a little soap, because the coconut oil resulted in WAY too many coffee grounds being stuck to my skin).

IMG_6714

I then used the St. Tropez tanning lotion and couldn’t be happier! I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without trying it! No smell, no streaking (use their glove!), and a really nice, natural glow – February can’t get me down!
