Navy Pants 6

I used to give my mom a hard time about liking an article of clothing, then buying it in every color.  So needless to say, I was a little shocked (when cleaning out my closet), to see that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.  Halogen pencil skirts – I own 8, J.Crew Minnie Pants – I own 5, and now these drapey pants – I own 6. Ugh.

While I’ve shared my love for them here and here, I have realized I am finally at a point in my fashion evolution where I want to be comfortable.  Now don’t get carried away, you won’t find me around town in sneakers and a hoodie anytime soon (unless its Lulu), but I am learning that you can be fashionable and comfortable too…

IMG_8438 Last up in this 3 part series? How to style this dress for 80 degrees and sunny!

IMG_8459 California loves air conditioning inside, but we love to spend our time outdoors, so layers will always be critical.  I continue to be obsessed with this military jacket, and love its light feel but ability to warm you up! If you haven’t bought one yet… get on it!

IMG_8443 I also love to embrace the dichotomy of super feminine and masculine simultaneously, and feel like glitter sandals with a military jacket does just the trick!

Accessories will always have a place in my heart… some of my staples are incorporated into this look – my GiGi cross body bag and my Chanel sunglasses.

Don’t Forget Your Green…

March 11, 2014

Outfit Floral

This post is somewhat of a joke, because my plan was to put a cute green outfit together for any St. Patty’s Day celebrations… unfortunately this plan backfired when I realized the only green I have in my closet is one green work dress and some green aviators.  Guess we know what color I should try to venture into more in 2014?

Hopefully this military jacket safely passes for a green?  Anyway, with this spring like weather this past weekend, I was ready to break out some fun floral shorts for brunch with J.   IMG_8105 Florals are fun, but bright pink shorts can be a little overwhelming – here are 3 of my starter tips for incorporating florals into your wardrobe:

  1. Pair with masculine items – i.e. a military jacket, chambray shirt… I’ve even paired with a button up and blazer for a more dressed up look.
  2. Don’t shy from (1-2) fun accessories – I incorporated simple glitter sandals and a fun color bag… an accessory or two adds a fun element, just be cautious of overdoing it, so your outfit doesn’t look costumey.
  3. Have fun! I love wearing things that make me happy… nothing makes you feel better than sitting on cute little pink flowers… so what are you waiting for?!

Fall Prep

November 5, 2013

I love the little luxuries in life (who doesn’t?!)… and a cashmere sweater and some sparkle never hurt anyone – enter my prep inspired weekend wear…

Cashmere Sweater and Sparkle Top

These jeans have been my new go-to and I love that they seem to dress up a more causal look.  I also scored this men’s sweater and couldn’t be happier with the cozy fabric and forgiving cut (fall foods always result in me having to pull out my “roomier tops”… darn those pumpkin baked goods!)

Tory BurchI also am a huge fan of this Tory Burch Satchel.  It is the perfect size (can hold my camera along with my standard “purse necessities”) and has a removable strap which is great for when you need an extra hand 🙂
